The staff at Alpine Crest, from the Principal down, have been the best! How often in an IEP meeting do you tell the staff you love them? I did as it's the truth.
Seems like some of the teachers have very negative attitudes towards minority children. The school is very slow to address issues that the parent feels are important. The teachers are not flexible and are not willing to work around the parent's schedule for confercening.
I honestly cannot say what reputation the school has presently, but when I went to Alpine Crest in 1972 it was a great school with some of the greatest teachers and fantastic food too... We used to walk to school, from Sherry circle, cut through the neighbors yard atop the hill and walk down through the woods where we came across a small bridge that covered a babbling brook and several large play grounds. Now days I am sure that kind of thing, walking through the woods, is not safe, but it was a kinder/gentler world then. Having lived away from Tenn. for many years now; I still feel so deeply attached to that place and time; I still wake-up from time to time from having had dreams of it, and am just so lucky to have experienced it! Having gone to elementary school in Atlanta, then Chattanooga, and on to high school in Tampa I will always say that the best education, attention from teachers, and just the best all around living experience of my life was attending Alpine Crest, back in 1972...flashback; Mrs. McKenzies 6th grade class...Rock-On!!!
Absolutely fantastic. It's a small school and so inviting. Would not dream of sending my children any where else
